Over the past several months, Vineyard Offshore has been active in meeting with community members and supporting several initiatives across New York City and Long Island — all in an effort to uplift communities and local business and advance our proposed Excelsior Wind project. Here’s a quick look at some of the events and activities we’ve been part of recently, from youth summits to community STEM workshops and more!
Community News
Minority Millennials Pre-Summit Reception
On April 9, Long Island leaders and stakeholders gathered for the Minority Millennials Pre-Summit Reception, honoring key figures in labor, business, and workforce development. We’re proud to share that our very own Andrea Bonilla was honored for her incredible support of Minority Millennials and their mission to uplift and empower young professionals of color across Long Island.
Minority Millennials Youth Summit
The following day, Vineyard Offshore joined over 800 students for a day of career exploration at the Minority Millennials Youth Summit. We connected with dozens of young people at our table to talk about offshore wind, reliable energy, and opportunities in the growing supply chain.
NYSERDA & NJEDA Supply Chain Forum
Next up was the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) Supply Chain Forum at the TWA Hotel. A great day spent chatting with suppliers and stakeholders about what’s next for offshore wind.
ACP Clean Power on the Hill
During American Clean Power’s (ACP) Clean Power on the Hill day, Vineyard Offshore team members Blake and Andrea spent the day advocating with New York’s members of Congress. The meetings were filled with strong support for offshore wind, and we’re excited to keep the momentum going by emphasizing the job opportunities, reliable energy, and economic growth this industry brings!
NYLCV Gala
We joined 800+ leaders at the NYLCV Gala on May 5th, where labor, environmental groups, and officials came together with a shared goal: push offshore wind forward. Governor Hochul and Senator Shumer both gave remarks, and the message was clear—renewables are non-negotiable, no matter what. We’re proud to be part of this strong, united movement for New York’s clean energy future.

Supporting the Long Island Children's Museum
Vineyard Offshore is proud to be a supporting sponsor of the Long Island Children’s Museum’s upcoming permanent exhibit, Saltwater Stories, opening this fall. This engaging new exhibit will celebrate Long Island’s rich maritime history and vibrant coastal culture. It includes an interactive section introducing offshore wind and its role in powering Long Island’s future. It will offer families a dynamic space to learn, explore, and connect with their environment.
To kick things off, our team participated in LICM’s recent STEM Weekend, where we created pinwheels with kids to demonstrate how air movement creates energy. This simple, hands-on activity reflects the basic principles of offshore wind. This educational space is an exciting opportunity to inspire future generations to explore science, sustainability, and Long Island’s unique connection to the sea.
