Welcome to Vineyard Offshore’s quarterly New York Newsletter! Over the past several months, Vineyard Offshore has been actively meeting with community members and supporting various initiatives across New York City and Long Island — all in an effort to uplift communities and local businesses while advancing our proposed Excelsior Wind project. In this newsletter, we highlight just a few of the projects we've recently participated in.
Community News
Supply Chain Workshops for Local Small Business 🤝
In both Brooklyn and Staten Island, Vineyard Offshore teamed up with Local Content to bring together small businesses and nonprofits interested in the offshore wind supply chain. Sessions focused on New York’s manufacturing and offshore wind sectors and how to get involved. We were proud to present our track record of small business localization efforts in New England and how we can replicate our “Look Local First” approach in New York!
Opportunities for Local Fisheries
BOEM’s public comment period for our Vineyard Mid-Atlantic lease area, which will host Excelsior Wind, is open until March 3, 2025. Public comments help inform BOEM’s Environmental Impact Statement and project permitting. If providing written input, we encourage you to highlight the significant workforce, economic development, small business, sustainability, and job opportunities Excelsior Wind offers.
Vineyard Offshore’s Holiday Impact Across New York 🎁
This past holiday season, Vineyard Offshore was proud to partner with four community organizations to support families in need through five special giveaways. In Uniondale, we worked with Long Island V.E.R.I.F.I.E.D. to provide 100 families with full holiday meals. We also joined Pastor Reginald Benjamin for ABBA’s Turkey Drive, donating over 300 meal kits and covering the cost of 100 Christmas presents.
At Hempstead NAACP’s Winter Wonderland, we sponsored a festive celebration at Hempstead High School, ensuring hundreds of children received gifts and holiday cheer! Finally, we were delighted to rekindle our sponsorship with the EAC Network, funding over 50 shopping sprees at Target for kids in need, with our entire New York team volunteering to assist the young shoppers.
