Pacific Offshore Wind Summit

As you may have already picked up, the West Coast was busy this quarter!

Vineyard Offshore’s California Market Lead, Rick Umoff spoke on a panel titled “Five Developers from California’s Initial Offshore Wind Lease Sale.” Rick underscored Vineyard Offshore’s commitment to offshore wind development in California while highlighting the key milestones that the state has undertaken in the last year that are key for the industry including unlocking port development funds and the announcement of an onshore transmission developer.

Our Tribal Relations Lead, Jaclyn Robinson, participated on the panel “Tribal Nation Strategies for Workforce and Economic Enterprise Development”, Jaclyn joined Tribal Nation Leaders in discussing strategies for workforce and economic development.

Erik Peckar, Director of External Affairs, weighed in on what specific state policies have been key in building a truly sustainable offshore wind industry in the Golden State.

ACP Industry Lobby Day

Vineyard Offshore participated in the American Clean Power (ACP) California Lobby Day in Sacramento, joining industry peers to engage with over 50 legislators and staffers. The group advocated for key legislative priorities, including expanding transmission infrastructure, streamlining siting and permitting, and funding offshore wind ports.

Prosperity Summit

Prosperity Summit

We recently attended this Tribal focused summit hosted by the Northern California Indian Development Council at Blue Lake Casino. The event brought together local Tribal employees, labor leaders and trade organizations. All attendees had the shared goal of building a stronger, more inclusive workforce.

The summit reinforced our commitment to growing meaningful, long-term relationships with Tribal Nations.

Staff Highlight

Meet Our Fisheries Liaison

Lucia Ordoñez

Lucia and Crab

Meet Lucia Ordoñez, Vineyard Offshore’s California Fisheries Liaison.

She plays a vital role by working directly with Tribal, commercial, and recreational fishermen to understand how they use the ocean, discuss project-related concerns, and identify both existing and needed baseline data to inform potential development.

You can often find her walking the docks with outreach and educational materials for the maritime community. Lucia has an MS in Natural Resources (Marine) from Humboldt State University, where she worked with local commercial fishermen on baseline socioeconomic monitoring and analysis funded by the State (~2013). Subsequently, she conducted contracted research (via a National Science Foundation grant) focused on climate change and fisheries' adaptability and resiliency in the context of rapidly shifting climates in the California Current System (CCS).

Lucia is, of course, a huge fan of sushi, enjoys freediving, and looks forward to the re-opening of recreational Red Abalone in 2026!

Vineyard Offshore is proud to be developing California’s first floating offshore wind project, located 20 miles off the coast of Humboldt County. This project represents more than clean technology — it’s about long-term opportunity for local families, workers, and the next generation. From new port infrastructure to expanded maritime careers, we’re building something that supports the region’s future.
